Here are a few pet portraits I have completed recently. The first is an oils on canvas. This was painted to the size of 24 x 18 and this medium really does suit pet portrait paintings due to their very soft and realistic qualities.
The pet portrait of the boxer below is in coloured pencil. Again coloured pencils are perfect for depicting pets, you can get a lot of detail by using the pencils on good quality paper, keeping your pencils sharp.
This portrait of a labrador is in graphite pencil, and again you can get a large variety of tones if you use a good quality brand of paper and a large range of graphite pencils.
